Last Christmas my brother gave me Come Weary Saints, a Sovereign Grace album (yes, another one!). I pulled it out of its plastic wrapping a month ago. Perfect, providential timing! It's been a great support to me during these weary weeks.
Here's the lyrics of Joy in my morning, my favourite song on the album. Every time I hear it, however glum and tired I'm feeling, it lifts my eyes to Jesus, the only true rest for the weary, and renews my joy.
Joy in My Morning
When darkness falls
Temptations call
And all around me seems undone
You hear my pleas
Supply my needs
And tell me of Your wondrous love
You are the joy in my morning
You’re my song of praise
Just like the new day dawning
Flooding my world with grace
Though trials come
And every one
Can take me further from Your truth
You calm my fears
Dry all my tears
And draw me closer, Lord, to You
You are the joy in my morning
You’re my song of praise
Just like the new day dawning
Flooding my world with grace
In You there’s no shadow of turning
Constant in all Your ways
You’re growing my faith and I’m learning to lean
On You all of my days
You are the joy in my morning
You’re my song of praise
Just like the new day dawning
Flooding my world with grace
Words and music by Peter Gagnon.

I love this album too. One of my favourites is Healing in Your Wings, as it contains a paraphrase of one of my favourite verses from Psalm 119: I will say, it's good that you aflicted me, that I might learn your holy ways, and to trust in you at all times.
(We did have the unfortunate Mondegreen, where the boys thought he was singing: Rising up with helium in your wings:-))
My other fave when I am feeling quietly sad, is Hide Away in the Love of Jesus.
Fabulous album....just so full of reminders that God is sovereign and GOOD.
Hang in there in the weariness. Keep looking for ways to obey God and love others, and then throw yourself on his mercy for the grace to do it!! Remember he delights in doing that for us! Jo C
Oh, another good one is As Long as You are Glorified. Quiet, my restless heart...... Jo C
Sounds great!
Praise God for his encouragement that comes in all sorts of ways. May he give you rest and joy this Easter.
Yes, i've been listening to this too... great album.
One thing I love about this album is that everyone I talk to has completely different favourite songs! A good sign, I think, that they're all good - and all speak to us in different ways.
